What Can We Learn from Falling Back in Love: Feel It from the Heart

When I was growing up, I heard the story. I thought it so strange. I was a child and did not understand the situation and complex feelings that would have caused my grandparents to marry, divorce, and later re-marry - eventually fulfilling the “until death do us part” vow that they took...twice. I am certain that no one fully understood - no one except them. Helen Keller,  more reliant on her emotional experience as a result of her inability to see, offered a profound truth. She said, “The best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even heard, but must be felt with the heart.” I did just that on a hot July day, when I had a session with Jennifer and Josh.

Young love. It comes at a time in life when the possibilities are endless and you feel like you have all the time in the world. Jennifer explained that she met Josh when they were young, but they  had different plans that took them in separate directions with school and, eventually, life. They lived parallel lives, as they each married and had beautiful children. However, unbeknownst to each other, circumstances in each of their lives made them open to the possibility for happiness again. In time, they found one another...again. As the quote by a wise but unknown author says, "Sometimes two people have to fall apart to realize how much they need to fall back together."

In the short time that I spent with Jennifer and Josh, I felt their love with my heart. I felt the joy of their reconnection, even more than I saw it with my eyes. I understood the strength of the love my Granny and my Granddaddy must have shared, possibly for the first time in my life. I am thankful that my grandparents, and that Jennifer and Josh, found each other again. Life is short. I leave you with Maya Angelou’s wisdom, “Have enough courage to trust love one more time and always one more time."

Blessings ~
